25 Years of Macau Rugby
Macau Rugby celebrates an important milestone this year, 25 years of on-field action. The club was established in early 1996 and hosted its first game on 10th February of that year. The opposition that day was Hong Kong Football Club's Contemptibles select. The game finished in a diplomatic 12-12 draw. A dinner was held recently to mark the 25th anniversary of the 1st game, attended by a good number of current and past players in Macau. They were joined via video links by Macau players currently living in Canada, Singapore and Portugal who were unable to attend due to the current travel and health restrictions.
This is the first in a number events to celebrate the club's silver jubilee. There will be a local festival on the 17th April featuring trial games between the mini and youth teams plus a ladies game, adult 10s and a veterans match to be held at TIS field. If travel permits, Macau will hold a 10s and Beach Rugby festival later in the year.
